The Rat Marines
I have mentioned the Rat Marines before, and there have been occasional requests for an accounting. Well, here it is:
You’ll notice as you go through that the Rats prefer beaky helmets (their noses fit), plasma guns, flamers, meltas, and lightning claws. Not surprisingly, when they were played, they used a Salamander list. More surprisingly, they were loyal (there’s a story there) but that’ll last as long as an Inquisitor doesn’t get a good look at them. (Though the Space Wolves have been known to comment, “They’s hairier than us.”) Until then, the Force’s psychics envision the Emperor as a big horned rat.

HQ: This is Shrike, as the Chapter Master. Coming with beakie, claws, and a cloth to cover his tail, he needed no conversion.
-
-
HQ: This is the usual Force Commander. Yes, that’s an old Doom Wheel pilot on that bike.
-
-
HQ: The Chaplain looks kind of fierce, doesn’t he? He’s a Mordheim Warlock on a bike.
-
-
HQ: The model that started it all, the original force commander. Basically, a beakie with a tail and a Horned Rat back banner.
-
-
HQ: The Dreadnaught. Kind of a simple conversion, actually.
-
-
Elite: I wouldn’t normally have two Terminator squads in a force, but GW put out plastic terminators after I’d put together the metal ones.
-
-
Elite: The original Terminator squad, made with metal figs. (They don’t come with beakies, so those were added.)
-
-
Troops: The first Tactical Squad with their Rhino.
-
-
Troops: 2nd Tactical. The Razorback-mounted squads are “move” teams and armed with flamers and meltas.
-
-
Troops: 3rd Tactical, mounted in a Razorback.

Yes, the Lascannon gunner marks his kills on his gunshield.

-
Troops: 4th Tactical. The Rhino-mounted squads are “Shooting” Teams with missile launchers and plasma rifles.
-
-
Troops: Scouts with sniper rifles.
-
-
Troops: A force’s replacements, organized into an ad hoc Tactical squad.
-
-
Fast: the force’s one land speeder, complete with daring pilot.
-
-
Fast: 1st Assault, a jump team.
-
-
Fast: 2nd Assault, on foot.
-
-
Heavy: the force Whirlwind. Don’t leave the battle barge without it.
-
-
Heavy: The Devastator squad’s sargeant.
