It turns out that I did, but as a comment on <a href=\"http:\/\/foxtrot-sierra.livejournal.com\/77537.html\">another blog<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Keep in mind that BP is the proverbial Bad Example. Theirs was the <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Texas_City_Refinery_explosion\">refinery in Texas City<\/a> that burned down in 2005. Theirs was the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.msnbc.msn.com\/id\/14219844\/\">pipeline in Alaska<\/a> that leaked because they pushed back the maintenance cycle. (Suspiciously, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.upstreamonline.com\/live\/article215967.ece\">it&#8217;s leaking again<\/a>.) They were even (believe it or not) involved with the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/stories\/2010\/05\/25\/national\/main6516877.shtml\">Exxon Valdez<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>They&#8217;re the company that drives us nuts. With the regulatory agencies accepting settlements where no one admits wrongdoing, there&#8217;s no legal history to ratchet up the pressure on the bad company.<\/p>\n<p>In fact, their investors don&#8217;t agree with your statement of &#8220;best economic sense&#8221;, either. Not only are they <a href=\"http:\/\/www.businessweek.com\/news\/2010-05-24\/bp-directors-sued-by-investors-over-gulf-spill-costs-update1-.html\">suing over the current mess<\/a>, they sued over <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2007\/07\/07\/business\/07bp.html?_r=1&#038;pagewanted=print\">some of the previous ones<\/a>, too.
