{"id":22,"date":"2010-05-27T04:59:53","date_gmt":"2010-05-27T04:59:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.noserf.com\/?p=22"},"modified":"2010-05-27T04:59:53","modified_gmt":"2010-05-27T04:59:53","slug":"science-links-for-26-may-2010","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.noserf.com\/?p=22","title":{"rendered":"Science Links for 26 May 2010"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Eric Berman&#8217;s got a post about observations that contradict the Big Bang theory: <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.chron.com\/sciguy\/archives\/2010\/05\/investigating_an_enigma_at_the_edge_of_the_univers_1.html\">Investigating an enigma at the edge of the universe<\/a><\/p>\n<p><em>Ars Technica<\/em> details research that suggests we&#8217;ll see Faster-Than-Light communication before we see FTL travel: <a href=\"http:\/\/arstechnica.com\/science\/news\/2010\/05\/quantum-teleportation-achieved-over-ten-miles-of-free-space.ars\">Quantum teleportation achieved over ten miles of free space<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.theregister.co.uk\/2010\/05\/06\/german_synthetic_natural_gas\/\">Germans plan to make &#8216;synthetic natural&#8217; gas from CO2<\/a> \u00e2\u20ac\u201d which, off-hand, sounds like a goofy idea for a &#8220;green&#8221; energy solution. Until you realize that they&#8217;re talking about using the natural gas to store excess electricity generated during peak periods of windmill operation.<\/p>\n<p>Amazingly, this is my first link about BP: <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.chron.com\/newswatchenergy\/archives\/2010\/05\/engineer_recoun.html?utm_source=feedburner&#038;utm_medium=feed&#038;utm_campaign=Feed%3A+houstonchronicle%2Fnewswatchenergy+%28NewsWatch%3A+Energy%29\">Today&#8217;s Louisiana hearing: Argument on rig (updated)<\/a>. (Tom Fowler is the <em>Houston Chronicle<\/em>&#8216;s energy blogger, and he&#8217;s been keeping up on the oil spill.) At some point, I&#8217;ll get around posting about British Petroleum. Until then, I&#8217;ll just insinuate that the problem isn&#8217;t oil drilling, it&#8217;s the company involved.<\/p>\n<p>For those of you Borg wannabes: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.livescience.com\/technology\/Man-Infects-Himself-with-Virus-100526.html\">Man Infects Himself with Computer Virus<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><em>Slate<\/em>&#8216;s started a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.slate.com\/id\/2254054\/\">series about False Memories<\/a>.
